Pink Twins is a Helsinki-based duo of visual artists and electronic musicians comprised of the Juha and Vesa Vehviläinen brothers. Active as Pink Twins since 1997, their works have been shown in exhibitions and festivals on every continent, and they’ve performed live at various venues around Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
Pink Twins’ video works explore the crossing of visual art and music. Their computer-treated imagery focuses on human perception, its functionality and limitations.
They build a tissue of connections between their sound and visual works, attempting to intimately join mundane fragments that are usually disjoint. They use fragments of images, sounds and sensations which our daily life is subjected to, and break them down into small particles to reunite them once again in audacious and chaotic constructions.
In their live performances, Pink Twins incorporate live electronic music and a live jame session of their video works. The music is based on live sound-processing improvisations, using concrete and electronic sounds, noises and musical elements. The mixture of live sound and video projections creates a hyperactive, constantly changing and extremely detailed experience of time and space.
