"The first semester for postgraduate students at NID (National Institute of Design) consists of what is termed as the ‘foundation programme’. This twelve week course consists of courses in drawing, colour, composition and form.
However, we thought that a synthesis of these subjects was lacking. In the New Media Design programme, we decided to introduce a four week course on experimental animation with the aim of synthesizing their learning.
This is a challenging course, and requires the students to let their thoughts flow unconstrained, while learn the basics of animation techniques and at the same time explore the idea of movement in a cinematic medium".
Professor Ajay Tiwari and Dr. Jignesh Khakhar will introduce us to the work carried out at NID and screen a selection of abstract films produced by some of the students.
We thank the kind collaboration of the National Institute of Design.
