Jean Piché (1951) is a composer, video artist and software designer who has been active in computer music since the beginnings of the field in the 1970s.
While his personal practice is now devoted to videomusic, a hybrid meshing music and moving images, he has produced works in every genre of electroacoustics.
His work aims for poetic expression beyond any avowed formalism.
As a music software designer he is the creator of novel applications, amongst them "Cecilia", a popular front end to Csound. He authored the TamTam music software suite running on the «One Laptop per Child» XO computer.
