Due to their simplicity, the dot and the line are the perfect elements to reflect upon the limitations and achievements of all the representation systems devised by man so far: writing, music, design, maths, chemistry, physics... all disciplines are based on the dot and the line as communication vehicles.
Punto y Raya Festival explores the ultimate synthesis of the form·movement duality. It uses abstraction's prime matter to demonstrate that the dot·line is the ultimate grain of our universe and of the sense we make of it; it's the primordial identification of all that exists; the essence of that which is matterless but builds up matter, of what is imperceptible but allows us to recognize all perceptible things.
This conference proposes a historical retrospective of abstract art in various disciplines, invention and communication, from the Neolithic to the present time. How our representation systems emerged and evolved; how to go back to basics helps us optimize resources and gives clarity and effectiveness to what we want to convey. The dot and the line studied as the nexus between Art and Communication, which constitutes the essence of Creativity.
